The Place is excited to be providing
FREE training for community members to become Digital Mentors! Learn how to support family, friends and your community to improve their digital skills and confidence.

You need to attend one day of FREE training and be willing to support learners over 50. We'll be providing resources and follow up support sessions to assist you, including a community support opportunity for mentors to teach learners on a specific topic.

All Digital Mentors who complete this program will receive a certificate that can be added to your resume and have the opportunity to win prizes for supporting learners.

This opportunity is perfect for people looking to upskill or build upon their resume and people who are looking to learn something new and help others. It's also particularly beneficial for anyone working with or supporting people over 50, such as those who work in aged care or the community sector.

Free lunch and refreshments will be provided, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Bookings are essential and spaces are limited. To book your spot call us on (02) 4032 5500 or email programs@theplacecharlestown.org.au

Please note that after completing this training we ask mentors to support 4 learners (over 50) with a basic digital skill to improve their digital confidence (don't worry even short support sessions count). We also ask mentors to get a volunteer police check and to compensate mentors for the cost we provide you with a $30 gift card.

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
