Great Mates 2024 kick off!

Thrilling activities for our vibrant group of young men

The first wave of 2024 for Great Mates has ignited with sheer enthusiasm! This round has been a whirlwind of thrilling activities for our vibrant group of young men. From the captivating reptile showcase with Jabiru Wildlife to the pulsating beats of an Earthen Rhythm djembe drum circle, and not to forget the laughter-filled teamwork challenges like constructing marshmallow and pasta towers and engaging in competitive indoor hockey. The excitement has been palpable, with the boys eagerly returning every Thursday evening, brimming with anticipation for what awaits them.

Amidst all the fun and frolic, the boys have engaged in thought-provoking discussions during the weekly sessions facilitated by Well Education. Their contributions have been nothing short of remarkable, delving into topics such as emotional regulation, cultivating positive relationships, and building resilience. They've shared their personal journeys, navigating the pressures and expectations placed upon them as young men, and have discovered healthy coping mechanisms to overcome adversities.

As this round draws to a close, we've witnessed the blossoming of strong friendships, remarkable moments of reflection, and the display of maturity beyond their years. The feedback from participants and caregivers alike has been overwhelmingly positive. We're thrilled to announce that the next round running from May 9 - 27 June is just around the corner, and we're currently open for registrations!

Join us for another unforgettable adventure filled with camaraderie, growth, and endless possibilities.

This Neighbourhood Centre Week, we pay homage to the remarkable strength that emerges when diverse individuals come together for a shared purpose. Helen Keller's timeless words, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much," resonate deeply as we reflect on the power of unity and community. In communities across Australia, Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres (NCHCs) stand as the beating heart of local neighbourhoods. At these centres like ours, we strive to embody the essence of togetherness, bringing people from all walks of life together to connect, learn, and play. Through collaborative initiatives, inclusive programs, and shared spaces, we cultivate an environment where every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every member contributes to the vibrant mosaic of our shared community. To celebrate the value of our local community, join us for a warm cuppa and lively conversations at The Place on 14th May, from 10 am – 12 pm. Whether you're a longtime resident or new to the area, there's a place for you here! Discover the variety of programs and activities at The Place tailored to enrich every aspect of your life, from health and wellness initiatives to educational workshops and social gatherings. Come and experience The Place where people meet, connect, belong, and grow. Neighbourhood Centre Week is a time to celebrate the bonds that unite us and the spaces that nurture them. So, come on over, grab a cuppa, and let's build a stronger, more connected community together! Free light morning tea will be provided.
