Morning Teas & Plenty of Sweets for a Special Cause

Raising Money for the Cancer Council

Throughout May we’ve been celebrating Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and proudly raising money for the Cancer Council.

On the 17th of May the lovely ladies from Tuesday Club held a special morning tea, playing games and fundraising and recently staff and tenants from The Place came together for some amazing sweet treats while adding to the fundraising efforts.

You may have also seen, or participated in our lolly jar competition at reception. Guessing the number of lollies in the jar gathered competitive interest with a wide range of guesses made. The winning number was 422 and we are happy to announce that Liz Callen is our lucky winner! A big congratulations to Liz who will be taking home the jar with all 422 lollies inside - enjoy!

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that we love to celebrate as it’s about raising vital funds for life changing cancer research, support programs and prevention. We are thrilled to announce that with the help of our community we have raised $320.00 for the Cancer Council. A big thank you for your generosity, your donations have made a positive impact and truly can make a difference in the lives of people living with cancer.

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
